Our organization is encouraging young people to turn away from the scourges that afflict our society, such as crime, drugs and lack of social support by launching the Sports to Education initiative.
The Africa’s Economic Outlook 2020 report highlights that “despite the progress made in recent decades, Africa is still lagging behind other developing regions regarding education and skills development. Programs like Sport for Education can help create awareness of social issues and diseases, encourage communities to change habits and avoid pandemics. It can also help young people develop important life skills like communication, collaboration, and leadership.
There are many young boys and girls who are eager to develop their passion, but without sufficient support, are often tempted to give up and succumb to depravity. But with a little help, they find the will and the courage to persevere and move forward on the path to success.
The aim of the Sports to Education initiative is to empower our youth in poor remote areas with quality education and sports training, inspiring them to value and effectively use these skills so that they can become productive and progressing citizens.
How this program works.
Our communities in poor remote areas face significant shortages of sports equipment and other education infrastructure, which limit opportunities for many passionate children who want to achieve their full potential if given a chance.
We will leverage sports to engage, develop, and educate youths from underprivileged areas. We plan to target economically disadvantaged young children, offering a range of sports activities, practices, and tournaments. We will teach them the skills to manage peer pressure, develop self-awareness, and respond constructively to situations, whether in victory or defeat. Emphasizing teamwork, sportsmanship, and perseverance, the program aims to realize every child’s full potential physically and mentally.
With your help, we will organize basketball, handball, and football camps in the Bassa-Mpô’o-Bati communities in Cameroon, where selected participants will receive each, a jersey, a ball, educational supplies such as notebooks, books and pencils. We plan to establish sports academies and specialized schools that integrate education with sports training so that we can cultivate well-rounded athletes, equipped to succeed both on and off the field.
Furthermore, there will be a reward system for schools that achieve best in competitive exams. Schools which produce the highest number of students performing well in standardized tests like the Baccalaureate Exam or other rigorous academic competitions will receive recognition or incentives.
