PROJECTS

Creating opportunities for young people and improving health outcomes for women’s health in fragile rural communities

Starting in June 2024 and continuing through September 2025, our organization will embark on the following high impact projects:

Potable Water

Every day in rural communities and other poor urban centers throughout Cameroon, hundreds of thousands of people suffer from a lack of access to clean and safe drinking water. This shortage is a leading leading factor for infectious diseases, including cholera, diarrhea, dysentery, hepatitis A, typhoid, and polio, especially among children. Our organization is investing in the construction of deep wells to access reliable ground water sources, providing water treatment options to purify water from potential contaminants, and installing piping systems to deliver potable, drinking water to needy communities . To date, this initiative has collected over $16,000 US dollars in member donations. The goal is to reach $80,000 before December 2025.

Breast and Cervical Cancer Awareness and Education for Women in Rural Areas

Cancer awareness and education for women in rural areas faces significant challenges due to low awareness of the disease, limited access to healthcare, cultural beliefs, and a lack of understanding about early detection methods. Our organization believes that promoting breast cancer and pap smear awareness and education can help empower women to take control of their health. We place great emphasis in early detection through regular screening and self-exams by deploying mobile mammography and cervical cancer screening units to reach remote area. We also offer transportation assistance to women who need to travel to healthcare facilities. Finally, we offer financial assistance to women who cannot afford screening tests. This can potentially lead to early diagnosis and detection, more efficient treatment, and improved outcomes.

School Desks and Chairs

Everyday, millions of children throughout Cameroon struggle to learn while sitting on the floor or on the ground outdoors. Without a clear, safe workspace to learn, children are at a serious academic disadvantage. A new desk and chair give these students a dedicated space to learn, write, and concentrate. Proper classroom furniture in also linked to an increase in collaboration, focus, engagement, feedback and stimulation. Giving them a desk, where they can write and concentrate, empowers their educational journey and fuels their dreams for the future. Your contribution plays a significant role in providing children the tools they need to succeed.

Education Assistance for Schools in Rural Areas

We make rural education our top priority. Our goal is to make rural schools become more competitive by helping close the achievement gap between poor students in rural localities and their more advantaged peers in the cities. Our most exciting vision in this area is to continue to bring modern education to each and every child by providing computers and networking equipment to help narrow the dramatic and growing gap in computer knowledge, access and literacy. We also provide rural students with scholarships, and financial assistance to schools to fund initiatives aimed at improving student academic achievement.

Youth Empowerment Through Sport and Education

This community-based initiative targets children and young people as a platform to raise awareness on key issues impacting their lives, particularly girls' access to sports and the imbalance between male and female youth opportunities. A special emphasis is placed on encouraging young people to turn away from the scourges that afflict society, such as crime and drugs, and use Education and Sports so that they can become productive and progressing citizens.

Upgrade School Infrastructure in Rural Areas

The focus is on securing funding for building renovations. This includes constructing toilets with urinals, water closets, wash basins, providing school desks and chairs to save students the ordeal of sitting on the floor or broken furniture, ensuring access to basic necessities like sanitation and water within the schools, and providing internet connectivity, computer labs and computer equipment to enable digital learning.
