Creating opportunities for young people and improving health outcomes for women’s health in fragile rural communities
Starting in June 2024 and continuing through September 2025, our organization will embark on the following high impact projects:
Every day in rural communities and other poor urban centers throughout Cameroon, hundreds of thousands of people suffer from a lack of access to clean and safe drinking water. We are investing in the construction of deep wells to access reliable ground water sources, providing water treatment options to purify water from potential contaminants, and installing piping systems to deliver potable, drinking water to needy communities . To date, this initiative has collected over $16,000 US dollars in member donations. The goal is to reach $80,000 before December 2025.
Cancer awareness and education for women in rural areas faces significant challenges due to low awareness of the disease, limited access to healthcare, cultural beliefs, and a lack of understanding about early detection methods. We believe that promoting breast cancer and pap smear awareness and education can help empower women to take control of their health. This can potentially lead to early diagnosis and detection, more efficient treatment, and improved outcomes.
Everyday, millions of children throughout Cameroon struggle to learn while sitting on the floor or on the ground outdoors. Giving them a desk, where they can write and concentrate, empowers their educational journey and fuels their dreams for the future.
We make rural education our top priority. Our goal is to make rural schools become more competitive by helping close the achievement gap between poor students in rural localities and their more advantaged peers in the cities. Our most exciting vision in this area is to continue to bring modern education to each and every child by providing computers and networking equipment to help narrow the dramatic and growing gap in computer knowledge, access and literacy. We also provide rural students with scholarships, and financial assistance to schools to fund initiatives aimed at improving student academic achievement.
This community-based initiative targets children and young people as a platform to raise awareness on key issues impacting their lives, particularly girls' access to sports and the imbalance between male and female youth opportunities. A special emphasis is placed on encouraging young people to turn away from the scourges that afflict society, such as crime and drugs, and use Education and Sports so that they can become productive and progressing citizens.
The focus is on securing funding for building renovations. This includes constructing toilets with urinals, water closets, wash basins, providing school desks and chairs to save students the ordeal of sitting on the floor or broken furniture, ensuring access to basic necessities like sanitation and water within the schools, and providing internet connectivity, computer labs and computer equipment to enable digital learning.
